We promote the regeneration of rural and urban environments in the East Midlands. We bring together the region's communities and professionals, sharing and developing their skills and inspiring excellence.
Increasing importance is placed on making sure public sector policy and practice is based on sound evidence. Research observatories have been developed in the English regions to support regional policy making through the provision of high quality information and analysis.
Intelligence East Midlands (IEM) and the East Midlands Cultural Observatory aim to ensure that good quality, accessible and relevant evidence on the East Midlands is available and used to inform decision-making. IEM facilitates research coordination and promotes good practice. The East Midlands Cultural Observatory focuses on cultural research and is the research arm of Culture East Midlands, the regional cultural consortium.
IEM is a member of the Association of Regional Observatories (ARO), which is hosted by REM. ARO represents the observatories and intelligence units in the English regions, supporting efforts to improve the quality of the evidence base available to policy-makers. ARO promotes the interests of the regional data community and facilitates the exchange of good practice for the benefit of members.
The East Midlands Intelligence Network, convened jointly by IEM and the Cultural Observatory, brings together those who produce and use intelligence in the region. It provides opportunities for the dissemination of research, sharing of experience and good practice and aims to act as a catalyst to collaboration.
