Opun is the architecture and built environment centre for the East Midlands, and the strategic business unit for Design within Regeneration East Midlands.
We work with decision makers, design, planning and regeneration professionals, communities and young people to improve the design of the built environment in the region. We put high value on the contribution excellent design, culture and creativity bring to making places which are distinctive, places where people can enjoy living and working and have pride in.
We offer a range of services, training, inspirational visits and tours, talks, public events and professional networking opportunities for people in the region who are interested in the design of new or regenerated buildings and places in the East Midlands.
What is an Architecture Centre?
Opun is one of a network of over 20 architecture centres across the UK, organisations that work for the creation of better quality neighbourhoods, buildings and public spaces.
We achieve this through:
Participation: enabling real public engagement in place making;
Advocacy: promoting the case for architecture and design of the highest quality;
Education: developing a greater public understanding of architecture, design and public space.
The UK architecture centres form one of Europe's largest collective networks of independent architecture centres. Opun plays an active role within this rapidly growing sector, sharing best practice and intelligence with fellow centres and helping shape national built environment policies and practice.
